Great learning opportunities near Timberlands

Red Deer Public Library, Timberlands Branch

It's easy to go to the library when you live in Timberlands. The Timberlands Branch of the Red Deer Public Library is a short walk away on Timothy Drive on the campus of Barrie Wilson Elementary School.

You'll enjoy this bright, welcoming library with its great collection that’s connected to the entire Red Deer Library system. There’s story time for younger children in both English and French. Pre-teens and teenagers can call on librarians for research help for reports and papers.

Barrie Wilson Elementary

Barrie Wilson is a bright, new elementary school located close to Timberlands on Timothy Drive. The school serves over 500 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Ecole Barrie Wilson offers an early French Immersion program that starts kindergarten and first grade students on the road to becoming bilingual.

Central Middle School

Central serves over 500 students in grades 6 to 8. The school’s English language program serves Evergreen, Oriole Park, Riverside Meadows, Clearview Ridge, Timberlands and the City Central core. The school is the French Immersion middle school for Red Deer Public so that program draws students from all areas of the city. Central is also the designated ESL (English as a Second Language) middle school in Red Deer.

Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School

Educating students in grades 9 through 12, Lindsay Thurber is located just across 30th, near Kerry Wood Nature Centre. The school offers a variety of innovative education programs, including Work Experience, Registered Apprentice Program, French Immersion, and ESL, as well as athletics, arts, clubs and other activities.

Gateway Christian School

Gateway Christian School is a K-12 Christian Alternative Program serving over 700 students from the entire City of Red Deer. Grades 9 - 12 are offered in partnership with Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School. Red Deer Public Schools provides this program for families that want a Christian context in their children’s education. Gateway joined Red Deer Public Schools in 1999.

Father Henri Voisin School is a K-5 publicly-funded school, welcoming children of all faiths who want a Catholic education. The school is close to Timberlands, just a few blocks west of 30th.

St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School
